Lucy Howell, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and educator based in New York City. She works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families facing challenges related to relationships, anxiety, depression, bipolar spectrum disorders, personality disorders, substance abuse, and life transitions. Her approach blends evidence-based treatments with psychodynamic principles to foster both lasting change and deeper self-understanding.
Lucy earned her Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University in 2014, where she completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) under the mentorship of Dr. Andre Ivanoff.
Throughout her career, Lucy has held clinical, supervisory, and administrative leadership roles within outpatient private practice DBT programs. For the past 12 years, she has provided individual therapy, facilitated DBT skills groups, and supervised clinicians working in both standard outpatient and intensive outpatient settings. She has also played a central role in developing, implementing, and overseeing evidence-based treatment programs and clinical services.
In addition to her clinical work, Lucy has served as a guest lecturer at both the Columbia University School of Social Work and the Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service. She has completed advanced training in DBT for Substance Use Disorders, DBT for Eating Disorders, and DBT Prolonged Exposure for PTSD. She also completed the Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the William Alanson White Institute, reflecting her commitment to integrating contemporary psychodynamic thinking into her clinical work.
When she's not in the office, Lucy enjoys exploring New York City with her husband and their Yorkie, Lenny, spending time in the Catskills, and watching classic horror films.
